A young boy is separated from his mother in the city. Lost and alone, the boy befriends a homeless man and together they wander the back alleys of a city under construction.

I moved from Perth, Western Australia, at the beginning of 2012 to begin studies at the Victorian College of Arts. Perth was a city constantly under construction and is the setting for this short film.

The backgrounds are all painted by hand from photos I took while wandering the city. There is a sense of beauty in these construction sites and back alleys, whether it be the lighting or the vibrant colours. This sense of hidden value is also explored in the character of the homeless man who goes out of his way to help the young boy.

Home is the story of an unlikely friendship and a farewell to my own home.
